Pilates - Mat Work based
These courses are suitable everyone and all levels of fitness. They start with a standing warm up to mobilise the whole body, with some balance and functional exercises included. Pilates sequences will tone and warm the body. After a 25/30 minute section on the floor, we finish with mobility improving exercises and stretches to develop flexibility using exercise bands. The Monday evening 7.15pm mat based pilates class also finishes with 10/15 minutes of relaxation (using various techniques) which will help to relieve symptoms of stress and relax your mind and body.
Power, Fitness & Functional Pilates
For the intermediate participant, (but can be adapted to suit all levels), the emphasis is also on improving cardiovascular fitness and strength. Incorporates some Yoga style moves. Using sequences of Pilates exercises you will improve all areas of fitness. A more powerful Pilates class. Invaluable for people who partake in sport e.g. skiing, tennis and horse riding.
Pilates, Strength & Relax
This class blends Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, strength and flexibility training into one challenging but relaxing class. A mind/body class, which means it is concerned with 'mindful movement' instead of being a fast paced class. It concentrates on training using both isotonic exercises (movement in exercise e.g. press ups) and isometric exercises (such as static poses e.g. warrior from Yoga). The class finishes with Yoga based stretching and 10 minutes of relaxation (using various techniques), which will help relieve the symptoms of stress and relax your mind and body. Pilates, Strength & Relax is a low impact class and is for all fitness levels.
